According to Corriere dello Sport and Tuttosport, Inter are back in the lead towards signing Antonio Conte for next season.

The newspapers confirm that the Nerazzurri will part-ways with Luciano Spalletti, hopefully on high in the shape of  Champions League qualification.

Corriere dello Sport reveals the reason why Conte rejected Roma in favour of Inter. According to the Rome based outlet, Conte believes Inter’s project to be better, at least in the short term since they seem more likely to secure Champions League.

However, there is still the matter of releasing Spalletti and his staff which would cost Suning around €25 million. There is also the matter of Conte’s higher salary and the big transfer market that the ex-Chelsea coach will no doubt be expecting to have.

The arrival of Conte would be the mark of a massive change in structure. Marotta’s philosophy is that titles are won within the club. Therefore, Conte will need someone to help him keep control of the group, someone like Lele Oriali.

Piero Ausilio’s contracr will be renewed to work purely on scouting and the transfer market, while Marotta supervises the whole operation. Everything will depend on the final decision of Zhang Jindong, which will only come once Champions League qualification has been secured.

Also, according to Tuttosport, Inter are already hard at work on the signing front. Negotiations for Danilo have started and if Dalbert leaves, Darmian could also join, a player Conte has admired since his days with the Italian national team. Furthermore, Dzeko is another target who has been linked to Conte as well, during his time at Chelsea but Roma rejected their approaches.
