Antonio Conte is still a huge admirer of Man United’s Lukaku and should he be on Inter’s bench next season, he may ask Zhang to sign him in place of the departing Mauro Icardi, according to Turin based newspaper Tuttosport.

“Despite the fact that Manchester United paid Everton €85 million to sign him in 2017, they must fight for the absolute maximum they can ask for, for the Belgian striker who has not scored since their 2-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain on March 6th, which coincides with the collapse of Solskjaer’s project.”

“It remains unknown how much United value Lukaku at, but his £9 million salary is another obstacle that Inter will have to overcome if Conte really wants him. This is why the Zhang’s are waiting for Champions League qualification before making a final decision and increasing the budget.”

“Piero Ausilio will spearhead what seems like a very difficult operation, but the low cost alternative remains Edin Dzeko, yet another player Conte wanted while he was at Chelsea. A player who also suits knows Serie A and who’s age will allow Lautaro to progress without too much competition.”
