The Serie A is importing less foreign players, according to a report made by Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

According to the report, 65 new foreign players arrived in Italy this summer, 6 less than last year and 10 less compared to two years ago.

However, the variety in the players that are arriving is improving. Last year, the shock arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid to Juventus caused more attention to be payed to Serie A from abroad, with both young talents and veteran players keener to make the move to Italy.

Young talents like Justin Kluivert, Lautaro Martínez, Ola Aina and Fabian Ruiz have all found high amounts of minute with their respective first teams, but maybe more interesting are the cases of players that are returning to Serie A after a long absence.

One of those players is Alexis Sanchez. The Chilean initially played for Udinese for 5 years between 2006 and 2011, making 112 appearances for the side, scoring 21 times and providing 20 assists, before moving to Barcelona and then the Premier League.

Inter will be hoping the 30-year-old winger can replicate his magical form seen with the Friuliani.
