Inter coach Antonio Conte is forced to rely on the offensive partnership of Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku due to the injury to 30-year-old Chilean Alexis Sanchez, with a report from today’s paper edition of Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport analysing the duo’s partnership.
The report highlights how, in the 316 minutes that the duo have played together, they have passed to each other 23 times, an average of 6.5 passes every 90 minutes.
However, out of those 23 passes, 19 of them have been Lukaku passing to Lautaro, suggesting that the former Manchester United forward searches more for the 22-year-old Argentinian than vice versa.
This means Conte will have to work to improve the understanding between the two forwards and create a more natural partnership.
Considering that Sanchez will be injured until January next year, important work must be done to create a lethal attacking system between two players, with the only other attacking alternatives being Matteo Politano and Sebastiano Esposito.
