Inter coach Antonio Conte spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia following the Nerazzurri’s tough 2-1 victory over Bologna tonight.

“There was a great response after the goal that could have killed us because of the way these guys played, they showed great inner strength. This is great news for us, when things are easy it becomes difficult to evaluate certain things.”

“Coming here and winning against an excellent Bologna, which brings intensity, is a great sign. It’s the fifth game in a few days, we’ve given an important signal to ourselves first, because we don’t look at others, we have to improve, we have to think about giving these signals also and especially to the fans.”

“I asked them to go out and have a sweaty shirt, they’re doing it and I’m happy. Now let’s go back to Milan and think about Borussia Dortmund, another difficult game; we’ll go there to have no regrets.”

The 50-year-old Italian coach then discussed the attacking duo of Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez.

“The two strikers are very important in creating the game. Lautaro is a guy who makes first and second point at the same time, as is Lukaku. They are atypical forwards, even Romelu if he has the pitch ahead of him is a very fast player.”

“They know how to communicate well and we’re working hard on this connection, I’m very happy because beyond the goals they do a great job without the ball. Behind them is growing a very promising young man like Sebastiano Esposito who can have a very important future if he continues with this desire.”

Finally, Conte discussed how difficult it would be to win the league title with Inter.

“I knew I was going to put myself through a very difficult challenge from many points of view. I like to look for something difficult, I think my story speaks for itself, in the top clubs I arrived during difficult times and I brought the team back where they deserved.”

“I hope I have the strength to do it with Inter too, we’re working hard and the thing that makes me happy is working with serious and helpful guys. Even those who came in afterwards gave a boost to the game and everyone showed they had the sacred fire not to give in to a game that seemed to be channeled in a negative way. If there is this desire to go off the pitch with a sweaty shirt, there is always satisfaction for the work.”
