Former Inter defender Alberto Rivolta, who won a Scudetto with the Nerazzurri in the 1988/89 season, passed away earlier today following a long-term illness. The club posted a tribute to Rivolta on their website.
“FC Internazionale Milano mourns the death of Alberto Rivolta. Born in 1967 in Lissone, Rivolta was a defender and, after playing in the Nerazzurri youth teams at the beginning of the 1980s, made his debut in the First Team on 15 December 1985 in Serie A against Como.”
“In his Nerazzurri experience, between 1985 and 1987 and then in the 1988-1989 season, he made a total of seven appearances. The sweetest was on the penultimate day of the ’88-’89 championship: a presence that brought him to the list of heroes of the Scudetto of the record season.”
“Inter, in remembering Rivolta’s courage in facing the disease, joins the pain of his family, bringing the embrace of all the people of Inter.”
Rivolta made seven appearances for Inter over his three seasons with the club.
