Inter President Steven Zhang and coach Antonio Conte had a cordial meeting earlier today via a conference call, according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia’s reporter Matteo Barzaghi, who reported this on air moments ago.
According to the report, the meeting took place via conference call as the Nerazzurri President Steven Zhang is till on China and can’t return back to Italy due to travel restrictions following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
During this call, which is described as cordial by Barzaghi, the decision was reached to first focus entirely on the Europa League and after Inter’s fate in that tournament has been decided, focus on the future, the report continues.
Both the club and the coach have previously made it clear that the tournament is a priority for them, hoping to end Inter’s trophy drought which has endured since 2011, when the Nerazzurri won the Coppa Italia.
Inter have won the Europa League, or the UEFA Cup as it was known then on 3 separate occasions.
