At home in Argentina, Javier Zanetti was interviewed in the program El Pelotazo and talked about his injury: “Even if it was serious, I took it very well from the beginning because I know that it’s part of sports. You have to be positive in life.”
The captain also talked about his time at Inter: “From the first day when I arrived at Inter, I knew it would be my home, because the affection and sympathy that the people here showed me on the pitch was huge. The relationship with president Moratti made me find my place in the world. During my career I have received offers from very big clubs, but one must consider other aspects: the family’s well-being and the tranquility that you can have when you play in a team like Inter.”
On his new coach: “I have spoken with Mazzarri. I don’t know him personally, but as an opponent. In the teams he has been coaching, he has done a good job. I hope he continues to do so with Inter.”
Some fans have suggested that a bleacher at the Meazza should be named after Zanetti: “An honor. It makes you realize how much you have created for this club. It’s really a nice recognition.”
