Inter’s Argentinian international striker Lautaro Martinez can’t wait for the Coppa Italia semifinal clashes against Juventus the former Racing Avellanada man told an Italian broadcaster.

Speaking to InterTV after the 4-0 thrashing of Benevento at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milano’s San Siro district, Lautaro underlined how much he enjoys playing big matches, such as the one on Tuesday night against Juventus.

“I am happy because these are matches I like. They are a strong team and it is always beautiful to measure yourself up against teams like that.

“We have demonstrated in the league that we are among the top teams, now we have to take them on in the Coppa Italia. It is a semifinal which says everything. We are Inter and, I repeat, this says everything.”

Lautaro continued to talk about how relieved he was to get back to scoring after a period where he has played well but has failed to put the ball in the back of the net.

“Yes everything was perfect. We did what we had to do, Benevento are a tough team who comes at you and are very physical.

“Today we had to have the patience needed to create space when retaining possession, and we were able to because they defended deep.

“In the first half we missed a few chances but then in the second half we recovered and closed the game off well.

“Today, I really wanted to score because I had to score a goal. I hadn’t been able to for quite some time and I am very happy, above all because we won.”

Inter won the match 4-0 thanks to a brace from Romelu Lukaku as well as a goal from Lautaro Martinez with Improta breaking the deadlock with an own-goal following a Christian Eriksen set piece.

The Nerazzurri now sit in second place in the Serie A Standings with 44 points, just 2 shy of cross-town rival AC Milan on 46 who defeated Bologna away earlier today by 2-1.
