Inter could replace Ashley Young with Spezia’s Simone Bastoni in the summer, according to an Italian media report today.

As per FCInterNews.it, Young appears destined to bid farewell at the end of the season when his contract expires and Inter could well look to Bastoni to come in and replace him.

The Nerazzurri intend to rejuvenate their squad and also want to reduce their wage bill and could replace Young, who earns €3 million a year, with Bastoni, who earns only a 10th of that.

Bastoni has been a real revelation since Spezia’s promotion to Serie A and has also caught the eyes of Lazio, Atalanta and Napoli.

Inter have their scouts keeping a close eye on the 24-year-old, whose contract with Spezia is due to expire at the end of next season, meaning he could possibly be acquired for a low price in the summer.

Antonio Conte greatly appreciates the player who could slot into his 3-5-2 system and it now remains to be seen whether Inter will make any sort of move for him.

Bastoni has provided four assists in 13 league appearances for Spezia this season, scoring his only goal of the campaign last Saturday as Vincenzo Italiano’s side recorded a famous 2-0 win against AC Milan.
