Inter are well on course to win the Serie A title after beating two of their nearest rivals, according to an Italian media report.

The Nerazzurri have taken maximum points from back-to-back matches against Lazio and AC Milan and now have a four-point lead at the top of the table.

Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition explained that Antonio Conte’s side only have two ‘head-to-head’ encounters left now, both of which will come in May against Juventus and Roma.

Before the Giallorossi come to San Siro on matchday 36, Inter have 10 games that they would expect on paper to win and only two trickier fixtures.

Conte’s side have winnable games against in-form Genoa and Parma in the next 10 days before their next big test arrives, when they host Atalanta on March 8.

But Inter’s boss made it clear in yesterday’s post-match interview, the report recalled, that he ‘feared’ those two games and felt they would reveal a lot about his team’s mentality.

The next big obstacle after Atalanta will come on April 18 when the Nerazzurri play Napoli at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Gazzetta said Inter had a real opportunity to build up a lead at the top of the table in the coming weeks, with AC Milan facing Roma themselves on Sunday.
