Inter will face 14 finals in their remaining 14 Serie A matches, Inter coach Antonio Conte has stated following the 3-0 win over Genoa earlier on today.
The Nerazzurri are sitting at the top of the table and are in many pundits and media outlets eyes, they are the favourites to go all the way and win the title this season.
“We can and must do better,” Conte remarked in an interview with Inter’s official club broadcaster Inter TV, following the match at San Siro.
“Even today we created a lot of chances, we could have been more cynical in front of goal and had the result safe by the end of the first half.
“After a year and a half the boys recognise situations in the match in order to not concede a goal and do badly.
“There has been growth in this regard and we must acknowledge it.
“Having said that, there are 14 games left and for us there must be 14 finals.”
Conte congratulated the team on their performance and he shared his delight with the group that has been created.
“Congratulations must go out to the players. A strong and solid group has been created and I am very happy with this.
“Many time it is not easy, there is only the league to think about. The us comes before the I and I am happy with this.”
Conte went on to praise Genoa despite comfortably beating them and also looked ahead to the next match which comes away to Parma on Thursday night.
“It was a game that had many difficulties, Genoa have been in-form since Ballardini’s arrival, they are solid and play good football, they deserve to be complimented. For us it was a test after Lazio and AC Milan.
“In some matches you risk slipping on a banana peel, today it went well and against Parma we will need the right hunger.”
Inter have now won 3-0 in back-to-back Serie A games and the former Italian national team coach was quizzed on how this has been possible for the team.
“The work in the attacking and defensive phase by everyone. The team has began to understand when it is possible to press high and when to wait.
“Today we had more compactness and more balance, this is allowing us to concede fewer goals whilst not losing the habit of scoring goals.”
