Marcelo Brozovic has managed to avoid an automatic suspension for a long time now and is one of several Inter players doing well in this regard, an Italian media report has pointed out today.

Tuttosport’s print edition noted that Brozovic picked up his fourth booking on December 23 versus Hellas Verona and has managed to avoid a booking, which would trigger the automatic one-match ban due to an accumulation of yellow cards, for no fewer than 11 games now.

Nicolo Barella has been in the same situation as Brozovic for eight games, with the report highlighting how there has been a clear improvement from him in terms of not picking up cheap cards.

Last season he had 11 yellow cards and as things stand he is on four yellow cards, with 12 games to spare in the 2020-21 season.

Central defender Alessandro Bastoni has avoided a suspension-triggering yellow card for seven games, while this season’s top goal scorer Romelu Lukaku has done so for four games.

Ironically, the first person to trigger a suspension has turned out to be Antonio Conte himself, with his booking against Atalanta on Monday handing him a one-game touchline ban, to be served during Inter’s match at Torino on Sunday.
