Inter will face serious competition from Juventus for the Serie A title after the Bianconeri’s UEFA Champions League elimination, according to former Nerazzurri striker Nicola Ventola.

Juventus crashed out in the last 16 on Tuesday after FC Porto secured a quarter-final spot in Turin courtesy of the away goals rule.

Andrea Pirlo’s side are now free to concentrate on Serie A with just one game a week, exactly like the Nerazzurri.

In an interview with Perform Stats News, as quoted by FCInterNews.it, Ventola warned: “Juventus will see it as unfortunate to be out of Europe but they now have the fortune to be preparing only one game per week.

“For me they’ll pick up a lot of points in the last few games and will be Inter’s main rival for the Scudetto.”

Juventus trail Inter by 10 points in the Serie A standings with 12 rounds remaining, having lost the first Derby d’Italia of the season 2-0 at San Siro in January.

Pirlo’s men do have a game in hand on the Nerazzurri, however, which they will play against Napoli on Wednesday.

Inter will hope to extend their lead over their arch rivals on Sunday when Conte’s side visit Torino, a few hours before Juventus play Cagliari in Sardinia.

AC Milan split the two teams for now as they lie second, six points off their city rivals.
