“It was a tough pre-season, as it should be. In the U.S. tournament we faced some very high-level teams that might have been a bit ahead of us, so they were challenging matches for us from both a physical and technical standpoint. But that’s something positive since it showed us the challenges we’ll be facing.” Words from Marco Andreolli to Inter Channel as the defender reflected on the Nerazzurri’s summer training preparations.

Regarding his role in Walter Mazzarri’s defence, Andreolli explained: “Actually, last year at Chievo Verona, for more or less half the season, we played with a 3-man defence under Corini and I was comfortable in that formation. Perhaps I have a bit of an advantage from that point of view and will have fewer problems adjusting. Then obviously every coach has his own ideas and asks for something in particular. So we’ll gradually get to know each other and understand what he wants from us.”

Finally, on how it feels to once again wear the Nerazzurri shirt: “As I’ve said, over these years I always hoped to return to Inter. I worked hard and tried to improve every day in order to achieve this goal. Now at this point I need to reset everything and start from scratch, and work even harder to show I deserve to wear this shirt. That’s why Inter has to be just a starting point for me. I’m happy to once again meet up with all the people I knew seven years ago.”
