Inter are in the market for a new striker to complement current first choice pair Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez, and Atalanta’s Luis Muriel fits the bill, Italian media suggest.
As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Nerazzurri coach Antonio Conte is looking for a new attacking option to ease the burden on Lukaku and Martinez, with Muriel touted as a potential signing.
The Colombian is described as having a combination of the existing strike force’s skills, with Muriel able to lead the line and play in Lukaku’s role alongside Martinez.
Alternatively his work as a foil for powerful forward Duvan Zapata at Atalanta would allow him to partner Lukaku in a second striker position.
Muriel has also been praised for adding consistency to his game in recent years, with 16 league goals and seven assists this season attesting to this.
Meanwhile, the newspaper goes on to suggest that his inventiveness in front of tightly-packed defences would offer Inter creativity that they are lacking in the final third, with Conte’s side struggling at times against deep opposition.
