Danilo D’Ambrosio’s wife, Enza De Cristofaro, took to social media today to confirm that the Inter defender had recovered from COVID-19, and joked that he couldn’t wait to escape to training.
The full-back contracted the coronavirus following Inter’s 2-1 win over Torino in Serie A and tested positive on 16 March, before being joined by teammates Samir Handanovic, Stefan De Vrij and Matias Vecino.
Whilst the other three had all fully recovered and returned negative tests, D’Ambrosio continued to test positive and only fully recovered today.
In a post on her personal Instagram account, De Cristofaro uploaded a photo of herself and D’Ambrosio, alongside their two children, and joked that he was desperate to get away from them and return to Inter’s Appiano Gentile training ground in Pinetina.
“On the 21st day he recovered and fled to Pinetina… running. Now it’s up to us remaining to continue battling!” she captioned the image.
D’Ambrosio had been in a period of isolation since contracting the virus and is not expected to be included in Antonio Conte’s squad for the trip to Bologna in Serie A this evening.
