Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has become a key figure in coach Antonio Conte’s squad this season, having featured in every league game.
As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Argentina international is expected to start in attack alongside Romelu Lukaku against Napoli tomorrow, taking his total of appearances in the league to 31.
Only goalkeeper Samir Handanovic has made as many league appearances as Martinez for Inter this season, whilst the 23-year-old has played the most matches of any striker in the top half of the table.
Indeed, only Crotone’s Simy, Musa Barrow of Bologna, Cagliari’s Joao Pedro, and Emmanuel Gyasi at Spezia can match Martinez for appearances amongst strikers in Serie A.
The former Racing Club forward has become an integral part of Conte’s 3-5-2 system, whilst his physical output has been a crucial factor in Inter’s success this season.
Martinez has been substituted 17 times this term, more than any other Nerazzurri player, as he presses from the front and plays a significant role in Inter’s style of play.
