Inter coach Antonio Conte refused to be drawn on the impact of President Steven Zhang’s lengthy absence from the club, nor his impending return this week.

Zhang has been in Nanjing since the turn of the year and has been prevented from travelling to Italy due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, whilst he has also been conducting efforts to obtain investment in the club.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow’s Serie A match against Hellas Verona, as reported by FCInterNews.it, Conte was cagey and did not want to detract focus from the clash at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

“I’m not interested in going into this subject before the game. I don’t like to answer, I think it’s only right to concentrate on the game, we’re playing for the work of two years. I know that you need news, but there is time for it,” Conte claimed when asked about Zhang’s impact.

The President is expected to return to Italy at the end of the week, with suggestions that he will arrive on Thursday or Friday and will not be subjected to a mandatory 10-day period of quarantine.

Inter look to return to winning ways when they face Verona tomorrow, having drawn their last two matches 1-1, against Napoli and Spezia respectively.
