Inter centre-back Milan Skriniar has spoken of the strong team spirit within the group after a 1-0 win over Hellas Verona put them 13 points clear at the top of the Serie A table.

The Slovakia international played the full match at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza today, as a Matteo Darmian goal in the second half secured victory and moved Inter closer to the Scudetto.

“Today it was important to win. We didn’t play very well but it was important take the three points, so we are happy,” Skriniar declared in an interview with InterTV after the final whistle.

“We are united, even those who play less. When they come onto the pitch they do well and always look to help the team. I am proud of this team, both on and off the pitch. We are very united and we must continue like this.”

Following the victory over the Gialloblu, Inter only require a maximum of six more points from their final five games to guarantee a first league title since 2010, but Skriniar felt the unity of the team eased the pressure.

“It is deserved, we are working hard and developing in all aspects. The defensive phase starts with the attackers, the attacking phase with the goalkeeper, I always say that. We are united,” he concluded.

Inter now turn their attention to next weekend’s trip to bottom club Crotone as they close in on the title, followed by the visit of Sampdoria to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
