Inter CEO Beppe Marotta has opened up about transfer plans at the Nerazzurri and how the club will approach the upcoming season.
Speaking to the program “Dribbling Europei” on Italian broadcaster RAI 2, as reported by FCInter1908, the Italian explained why the club are selling Achraf Hakimi, and confirmed that Lautaro Martinez looks set to stay in Milan.
Hakimi’s departure for Paris Saint-Germain is expected to be confirmed imminently, with the player’s sale an important source of revenue as the club look to meet strict financial targets in the summer, something Marotta talks about.
The Inter executive gives insight into the broader plan at work among the club’s directors, while also giving official word on some individual details of the club’s upcoming transfer window.
Despite the loss of Hakimi, Marotta’s words are reassuring that the Nerazzurri’s team will not be significantly weakened going into next season, and will be ready to compete on all fronts.
On Hakimi’s sale he said:
“We had to come up with an important sale and significant transfer, this is oxygen for the club’s coffers.”
About Lautaro Martinez, these were his words:
“Lautaro is one of the players we are counting on. As long as players don’t ask to be sold, we won’t. I am quite confident that Lautaro will be at the centre of the attack next season.”
And on the thought behind Simone Inzaghi’s appointment as a replacement for departed head coach Antonio Conte, he stated:
“He is one of the most successful coaches in Italy in recent years. He has many similarities to Conte, we consider him the natural heir to a winning coach.”
