Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni has opened up about his feelings on the remarkable season that he has had for club and country.

Speaking to Italian newspaper La Provincia di Cremona, as reported by FCInter1908, the 22-year-old talked about the happiness he feels at having won both the Scudetto with Inter and the Euros with Italy.

Bastoni is a precocious talent, and has risen to the top of the game through methodical but rapid improvements since joining the Nerazzurri from Atalanta in 2018.

After spending a season on loan with Parma, he began to establish himself in the starting eleven in his first season under Antonio Conte, before showing even more assured form last season, forming part of a formidable trio with Stefan de Vrij and Milan Skriniar, and keeping the best defensive record in Serie A.

The young defender’s performances earned him a place in Roberto Mancini’s Azzurri squad for this summer’s European Championship, and now Bastoni can boast two of football’s most prestigious trophies.

His words on the Scudetto:

“It was a lot of stuff to win a Scudetto and a European Championship in such a short time, within two months. It was really nice. These are difficult emotions to talk about, maybe I still have to be the first to realize what we did.”
