The “real Inter” appeared to go missing in yesterday’s Champions League defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich, in the view of Italian media.
The Nerazzurri’s performance against the German champions came in for criticism in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, who suggest that the team failed to give a good account of what they are capable of as they looked very clearly second best all night.
Inter looked to be aggressive and impose themselves on Bayern at times, but only had very limited success in doing so, whereas the Bavarians looked very comfortable in finding routes to carve open the Nerazzurri defensively while keeping themselves secure and well-guarded at the back.
This performance from Bayern was what was expected of them and then some, but from Inter, particularly at the San Siro in front of their fans, this was a disappointment.
The Nerazzurri have shown in the past under Simone Inzaghi that even against the most formidable of opposition they are capable of holding their own, but against the German champions, they looked like just another team.
