Italian journalist Fabio Ravezzani feels that Inter coach Simone Inzaghi clearly showed himself to be tactically superior to AC Milan’s Stefano Pioli in yesterday evening’s Supercoppa Italiana match.

Tweeting after the match, Ravezzani argued that the run of the match plainly showed that the Nerazzurri boss had gotten the better of his Rossoneri counterpart.

Inter approached yesterday evening’s match by trying to maintain a compact spots, but pick their spots when they had the opportunity to push up, press, and quickly attack Milan’s backline.

In both the attacking and defensive phase, the Nerazzurri looked highly effective, whereas the Rossoneri looked to be a bit out of joint.

Whilst this partly came down to individual quality, fitness, and motivation, the two teams’ different tactical approaches certainly played a role.

In the view of Ravezzani, it was in this regard that Inzaghi really got the better of his opposite number to win the match and lift the trophy.

Ravezzani tweeted that “Looking at the 3-0 scoreline, Inzaghi’s tactical superiority seemed clear to me.”

“The key factor was that the Nerazzurri were able to contain the Rossoneri’s attacks without too much trouble, restricting them to hopeful shots from range.”
