AC Milan star Rafael Leao is a major doubt for the first leg of the Champions League semifinal against Inter Milan after sustaining an injury last Saturday.

The Portuguese left the pitch early in the match against Lazio at the San Siro. While the Rossoneri still managed to beat the capital side, the club is still sweating over the condition of their megastar, especially ahead of Wednesday’s EuroDerby.

According to Sky Sport via FcInter1908, Leao missed Milan’s Monday training session, Instead, he underwent a therapy session to speed up his recovery.

But as the source explains, the club had already expected the 23-year-old to skip Monday’s training session, so this shouldn’t be deemed as a blow to his chances of shaking off his injury and making himself available for the Derby della Madonnina.

However Tuesday will certainly be a crucial day in this regard, as Milan will undergo their final training session in preparation for Wednesday’s clash. So if Leao skips tomorrow’s session, then his chances of playing in the first leg will be slim.

Although he had his highs and lows throughout the season, the former Lille man remains Milan’s ultimate star. He guided the Rossoneri towards the Scudetto title last season, earning the Serie A MVP Award for his exploits.

This term, the Portuguese attacker has scored 12 goals and provided 13 assists in 44 appearances across all competitions.
