Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez feels that the Nerazzurri fans can be proud despite the fact that the team lost in the Champions league final against Man City.

Speaking to InterTV after the match, via FCInterNews, the 25-year-old gave his reaction to the match.

Inter have fallen at the last hurdle in the Champions League.

The team came tantalizingly close in the biggest match in European club competition.

However, in the end they could not capitalize on any of their chances to take a better result.

It certainly didn’t come about due to any lack of effort, however. As they promised to, Inter left everything out on the pitch in a gritty, determined performance on both sides of the ball.

Now, the Nerazzurri will have to reflect on the bitterness of some missed opportunities.

Inter Milan Striker Lautaro Martinez: The Fans Can Be Proud Despite Man City Loss

For his part, Inter striker Martinez feels that even in defeat, the Nerazzurri gave their fans something to be proud of.

“Since I’ve been at Inter I’ve lost a league title race, and after that moment, trophies that the club has gone without for a long time have come.”

“Today we reached a Champions League final after a difficult group.”

“Then we eliminated Porto, Benfica, Milan, and today we fought against Manchester City, the strongest team in the world,” he added.

“We deserved more.”

“But certainly, as I always say, in these competitions, the little things make the difference,” Martinez lamented.

“And maybe we lacked something needed to bring it home,” he added. “But I’m very proud of all this.”

“The fans can still be proud of what we did.”
