Even though Inter Milan and Chelsea held talks on Wednesday, the future of André Onana wasn’t on the menu.
Inter’s sporting director Piero Ausilio traveled to England for a tour that will include several meetings with various club officials.
The Nerazzurri executive began his series of summits by meeting Chelsea directors on Wednesday.
According to Corriere della Serra via FcInterNews, the talks between the two clubs revolved around Romelu Lukaku and Kalidou Koulibaly.
The Belgian striker is hoping to remain at Appiano Gentile for another campaign, while the Senegalese defender could make his return to Italian football following a disappointing first campaign in the Premier League.
But as the source tells it, the discussions between Inter and Chelsea didn’t include the future of Onana.
The Cameroonian goalkeeper signed for the Nerazzurri last summer and quickly established himself as a regular starter at the expense of club captain Samir Handanovic.
The 27-year-old’s heroics were crucial in the club’s highly successful Champions League campaign. The former Ajax man thus managed to attract the interest of several suitors around Europe.
But while many believe that Chelsea have set their sights on the custodian, the source denies a concrete approach from the EPL giants.
Moreover, the report adds that Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi has asked the management to maintain the core of his squad ahead of next season.
This request surely includes Onana who has become an integral member of the manager’s starting formation.
