Legendary former AC Milan striker George Weah feels that Inter Milan were unfortunate to lose in the Champions League final against Man City earlier this month.
Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, the Liberian also questioned why Nerazzurri striker Romelu Lukaku had started on the bench against the Cityzens.
Inter went into the final against Manchester City with the tag of underdogs.
However, in truth the way that the match hardly showed why.
The Nerazzurri went toe-to-toe with the Premier League champions for much of the first half, and then for the first part of the second.
However, a moment of real quality from City undid Inter. A well-worked possession move, and a fortuitous deflection off of Alessandro Bastoni, fell to the feet of City midfielder Rodi.
The Spaniard made no mistake, scoring with a blistering effort from range.

This was enough to undo all of Inter’s hard work.
The Nerazzurri had quite a few chances to get a goal back during the final half hour or so. However, each one of them went begging, to the agonizing frustration of the Inter players and fans.
In the view of legendary former Rossoneri star Weah, Inter can count themselves unlucky for the result.
The Liberian stated, “I have to admit that Inter were unlucky.”
He also said that “I didn’t understand why a top player like Lukaku was sitting on the bench.”
“If a top-class player isn’t in the best of form, you let him star the match, and then maybe take him off later,” Weah argued.
He drew a parallel: “That had been the case for me at PSG once. It was just coming out of the hospital, but there was an important Champions League match and I started.”
“I scored and then got taken off to the bench,” he looked back. “PSG won the match.”
