Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi feels that his team are well-prepared for a tricky match away to Cagliari in Serie A this evening.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, the coach also gave his thoughts on the progress of summer signing Marcus Thuram.
Inter are moments away from kicking off their second match of the season against Cagliari.
The Nerazzurri got off to the start they wanted in their opener against Monza, dispatching the Brianzoli 2-0.
But things are not going to get any easier from there.
On paper, Cagliari will hardly be Inter’s toughest opponent of the season. The Rossoblu were playing in Serie B last season, earning promotion via the playoff.
However, Claudio Ranieri’s men have already shown that they can cope in Serie A with their performance against Torino, where they earned a gritty 0-0 draw.
Inter Milan Coach Simone Inzaghi Expecting “Tricky” Match Vs Cagliari
Of the team’s condition, Inzaghi said that “We’ve prepared well with a slightly longer week than usual.”
“We know how difficult matches like this can be,” he continued. “Cagliari are a very well-coached team with great players, coming off the back of a very good match against Torino.”
“We know the pitfalls here,” the Inter coach added.
Of Thuram, who has yet to score in an Inter shirt, Inzaghi said that “Everyone has to participate in scoring goals.”
He made clear that “Marcus has to keep going the way he has over the last month and a half. He has been doing very well in training.”
“Arnautovic can come on during the match and give us something,” Inzaghi added.
“We know that this will be a tricky match, but we’ve prepared for it well.”
And regarding another summer signing, midfielder Davide Frattesi, Inzaghi said that “He’s training the right way as everyone else is.”
“We’re still sorting some things out,” he made clear – an oblique reference to the team’s pursuit of Benjamin Pavard.
Inzaghi then added that “Today we’re without Acerbi and Sanchez. We still have one more signing we need to make, but right now we’re focused on this evening’s match.”
