The agent of Danilo D’Ambrosio has revealed that the circumstances of the 34-year-old’s departure from Inter Milan left a sour taste.
Speaking to Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, the veteran defender’s agent Vincenzo Pisacane stated that of the Nerazzurri directors, only S[orting Director Piero Ausilio was honest about the club’s intentions as they failed to agree on an extension to D’Ambrosio’s contract.
This summer, D’Ambrosio left Inter after nearly a decade at the club.
The 34-year-old made the switch to Monza on a free transfer.
Reports suggested that Inter and D’Ambrosio had been discussing the possibility of an extension to the player’s contract, which ran out at the end of June.
However, these talks evidently did not reach any positive conclusion.
In the end, D’Ambrosio left the Nerazzurri after nine and a half seasons.
Inter moved on from a player who had become more of a veteran squad player, whilst D’Ambrosio continues his footballing adventure elsewhere in Lombardy.
Agent Reveals Circumstances Of Danilo D’Ambrosio Exit From Inter Milan
Of D’Ambrosio’s departure, Pisacane said that “That touches on a sore point.”
“The failure to extend his deal was communicated to us in the wrong manner,” he continued.
“The only person who was always clear and up front with us was Piero Ausilio,” the agent said.
“I feel that I have to say that he was the only director who always gave us the truth,” Pisacane said. “From the rest, it was just empty words.”
“Everyone had been saying that we would extend his contract. That we needed to do so.”
“Then in mid-June, we were informed that Danilo was out of Inter’s plans.”
Pisacanae went on that “I prefer not to comment further because there would be nothing nice to say.”
As for the player’s decision to join Monza, the agent said “Monza were always tempting to Danilo.”
“They’re a team who are always on the rise,” he continued.
“And then there’s the Galliani factor, he’s always a guarantee of success.”
“The player really wanted to join Monza,” Pisacane explained.
“He was also very close to moving to Saudi Arabia. But when Monza gave him a call, he didn’t have to think twice.”
