Veteran defender Danilo D’Ambrosio will leave Inter Milan on a free transfer with his contract expiring now.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the 34-year-old’s representatives are in Milan to sort out his future as he will not be extending his deal with the Nerazzurri and is set to seek a new adventure after nine and a half seasons at the club.

D’Ambrosio is only an Inter player for a couple more days.

The veteran defender’s contract with the Nerazzurri runs out at the end of this month.

The contract talks between Inter and D’Ambrosio and his representatives have gone on for some time. However, they have not agreed a new deal.

D’Ambrosio, who signed a one-year extension last summer, has asked the club for a new two-year deal. For their part, Inter have only ever put another one-season extension on the table.

For their part, the Nerazzurri are ready to move on by signing Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta. The Spaniard will take over D’Ambrosio’s customary position on the right side of the back three.

Inter will sign the Spaniard on a two-year deal as soon as he agrees a termination of his contract with Chelsea.

Danilo D’Ambrosio Will Leave Inter Milan On Free Transfer

Accordingly, D’Ambrosio’s time as an Inter player will come to an end. The season just gone was the 34-year-old’s last one with a club.

D’Ambrosio played his final match in a Nerazzurri shirt in the Champions League final earlier this month.

The veteran defender came off the bench late in the match as Inter chased the game against Man City. However, his Inter career ended bittersweetly as the Nerazzurr lost that final.

Among the clubs reportedly interested in D’Ambrosio’s signature on a free transfer are Monza.

D’Ambrosio joined Inter from Torino in January of 2014. He has since made 295 appearances for the club, scoring 21 goals in the process.
