Striker Marcus Thuram has won plaudits for another decisive performance in attack for Inter Milan against Frosinone yesterday.
Today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, place the Frenchman second to only Federico Dimarco in the player ratings for the match.
Performances like yesterday’s no longer come as a surprise from Thuram.
At the beginning of the season, the widespread sentiment was that the 26-year-old was exceeding the expectations that had surrounded him for his start to life at Inter.
Now, Thuram is only living up to the standards that he himself has set.
But that doesn’t make a display like yesterday’s any less special.
Thuram did not manage to grab a goal.
But the former Borussia Monchengladbach did manage to win the penalty from which Inter scored their second goal.
Marcus Thuram Lauded For Decisive Display For Inter Vs Frosinone
As recent weeks have shown, however, Thuram’s impact is not just in the penalty area.
Perhaps the Frenchman’s best quality is his mobility and ability to impact the game from just about anywhere on the pitch.
Thuram always proved to be an out-ball for his teammates. Whether this meant dropping into midfield or using his pace to trouble the Frosinone backline, Thuram’s presence always helped give Inter a foothold in the game.
The manner in which the 26-year-old won Inter’s penalty was a perfect example of his qualities.
Thuram sat down Frosinone defender Caleb Okoli in midfield.
Then he showed his speed as he made a beeline to the Frosinone penalty area.
And once Thuram was there, the danger was inevitable.
The Inter striker showed his formidable technical ability as he dribbled and baited defender Ilario Monterisi into a challenge.
The Corriere give Federico Dimarco the highest score in the player ratings. A 7.5/10 score rewards the Italian’s spectacular opening goal.
But Thuram is not far behind. The Frenchman earns a grade of 7/10.
