Goalkeeper Filip Stankovic says that he is “not thinking” about the possibility of a future at his parent club Inter Milan.

The 22-year-old addressed the matter in a press conference after yesterday’s match between the Nerazzurri and Venezia, as reported by FCInterNews.

Young goalkeeper Stankovic faced his parent club Inter for the first time in his career yesterday.

The Serbian youth team international joined Venezia on loan during the summer transfer window.

This is the first time that Stankovic has had a spell in Serie A. Previously he has been on loan with Volendam in the Netherlands and then Sampdoria in Serie B.

And Stankovic gave an outstanding display of his talents against his parent club yesterday.

The Serb played a huge role in the Lagunari staying in the match right until the end. Inter could certainly have scored more than one goal had it not been for a string of excellent stops by Stankovic.

Filip Stankovic: “Not Thinking About A Future At Inter Milan”

Stankovic has a long association with Inter.

That is perhaps not surprising, considering that the 22-year-old’s father Dejan enjoyed an iconic playing career with the Nerazzurri.

But at the same time, Stankovic has had to go elsewhere in order to establish himself and gain experience.

Still, performances like yesterday’s could suggest that Stankovic is not far from being ready to star for Inter.

But after the match, Stankovic was asked about this prospect. “I’m not thinking about that,” he said.

“I’m just thinking about Venezia and about the next match,” Stankovic declared.

Meanwhile, the 22-year-old also said that he talked to his father Dejan before yesterday’s match.

“I talk with him all the time,” he said. “He told me to stay calm and focus on myself.”

And of his performance yesterday, Stankovic said that “I’m happy for myself, but also for having helped the team.”

“We can take courage from this match, and from being a group.”
