This morning, after the meeting in the centre of Milan with Walter Mazzarri, Marco Fassone and Piero Ausilio, president Erick Thohir answered questions from awaiting journalists:
President Thohir, what is the purpose of this meeting after another draw?
“Well, the meeting had actually already been planned. And we’ll have another one at the end of April and in the middle of May. That’s because I think it’s important to prepare for next season. The transfer window is pretty short with the World Cup and the U.S. tour. They’re the meetings we usually hold. Maybe it’s not so common in Italy, but for me it’s something normal.”
Do you still have faith in Mazzarri?
“We don’t have any problems. Our professional relationship will continue next season, but it’s very important that we prepare for it. Of course we can recruit more players, but at the same time they’ll be players who share our vision. I think that’s important. And you guys already know some of the players we’re talking about [smiling].”
Did you dream about Milito’s penalty last night?
“Well, as I said a few weeks ago, I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. It’s the same regarding the penalty. As I always say, there’s a lot of drama in the Serie A and it’s a tough league. But I’m sure that if we work hard, focus and review a lot we’re going to get good results.”
Yesterday Mazzarri said he doesn’t know what to come up with anymore. Is this something you discussed?
“I think a lot of exciting things will happen over the next six games. This morning we discussed the preparations for them, and we’ll see the results. They’re tough games: Parma, Lazio, Napoli, AC Milan. So there’s a lot of excitement in store.”
And did you discuss transfers?
“Yes, of course.”

And just a question, what is Inters identity this season under Walter? Just curios cause i don’t see it.
I dont mind having Strama, Wenger, or anyone else as the coach for next season as long as the coach are doing good with the young, I dont mind if we finished 10th or 15th at all, as long as the talented youngsters and primavera are not wasted anymore, i dont mind if we sell most of our stars if we need to suppress the finance, i dont mind at all. I prefer to start the revolution next year and waste this year, and if Thohir is the man of his words then he will continue with the much younger Inter project, and any sane man would know that Mazzarri is the very opposite of his plan. Identity? Identity my ass! Coach with pride and humbleness? LOLL he had no pride nor the humble to respect the opponents. What else? Too many reasons to send him out than keep him. Again i repeat, i dont mind if we finished 15th next season with Strama or Wenger but having a brighter future rather than a doubtful season next year with Mazzarri and losing all the young talents! Anyone who kept Mazzarri are the one who wants instant success not the opposite!
Words well appreciated!
I don’t mind what you mind
Not a single words that i didn’t agree with you pal.
No, i don’t want Inter to be on 15th place. You say that shit now, but when its happen most of us will repeat what happen now (sack the coaches, buy new star player, etc). Its easier to said than done. Mazzari is a fair man, maybe biased over Alvarez, but at the beggining of the season Alvarez had the best statistics in europe comparable with player like Messi and Ronaldo, maybe Mazzari Hoped he return to that kind of form. And remember that Rolando is not a starting in the beggining of the season, he impresses and become the starting, same goes to Ranocchia & Icardi (which is a young player too).
Mostly doesnt mean that im included, i really mean it about what im saying, ever since last season im saying the same things, i dont mind as long as it is for the greater good for the club. His team is mostly a heritage from Strama and under Mazzarri, only Juan that i consider being stable. Ranocchia is not stable, same things for Icardi, Rolando got his chances from the injury of the old warriors that Mazzarri count on so much and he cant even called young anymore that Rolando is. And not only Alvarez does he overrated in, Guarin is the most overrated one by him. He is NOT a fair man, mostly not to his own self, i said it over and over that never did he take the responsibility of the team to himself, its always others fault, from the referees, penalty, field, woodwork, players and so on and on, thats called UNFAIR. And underestimating opponents though, combined those ugly, cocky characters with the fact that if he stays the youngs will be useless, lets say Kovacic, Botta, D’ambrosio, Olsen, not to mention other talents on loan, nope not even a single percent that i wanted him to stay.
Mr President, please consider this situation. We believe you have the same opinion with us the supporter of Inter, if WM is not suitable for inter.
Even Strama had a brave to put the youngster, how about WM ? He does not trust anyone, even botta and olsen, they have much talent compare to Guarin and Alvarez.
We believe you Mr President, we put our trust on you.
I am Indonesian, in my country it is usual backstabbing guy like WM. We talk polite, smooth and nice but we are just stabbing him and WM doesnt realize. I know Thohir prepare hidden agenda beyond media think and not roughly sack this WM. even Thohir must be good manner to WM. lucky bastard WM.
@Dimaz : do you think Mr President aware if WM is not suitable for inter ? I support inter, but looking with this condition, i really sad to see how WM teach football…..
Yeah and that is not a good attitude man
I prefer totally revolution. Mazzarri was signed in moratti’s era. And then a new president came in the middle of season. If only inter has had a good results, there wont be any controversy right now. If only mazzarri reconsidered our thoughts, opinion, views etc. although we are just fans, maybe we wont so disappointed now. If only mazzarri took responsibility to his own self, not blaming players, fate, luck,or anything else, maybe we still have patience. But…yeah but again, everything mess up right now and mazzarri is still inter coach next season and his mighty the great 3-5-2 formation is still used…i hope, either of mazzarri or thohir, both of you, wont waste another year for our beloved inter.
Maybe all of this are because Moratti who taught us this kind of instant mentality. Season doesn’t go well ? Sack the Coaches, buy new expensive world class signing, break the transfer records etc. No patience at all. The fear of losing talented young player like Pirlo Bonucci Santon Destro etc, make us have unrealistic demand / expectation toward our young player. to say Mazzari doing a great job are stupid, but lets keep an healthy critic towards him and stay away from Sack / fired / etc. Lets say Mazzari is fired, what kind of replacement who do you think we will get ? Mourinho ? Simeone ? Get real, those two won’t join us. Realistic replacement would be coaches like Sinisa Mihajlovic, which is, in term of achievement, far from Mazzari. Im one of the minorities who support Stramacioni to stay last season and im goin to do the same for Mazzari. Because imho, what Inter need the most is continuity.
fucking right dude, even we are 9th but Strama had vison much better than WM, he was not affraid put youngster on the pitch, what a joy to see if we are falling and rising with the same youngster at team, even we are on 16th place but we are not ended like this season, I am 17 years become interisti, never seen stupidity like this, to be honest. this is not really inter.
Well done buddy. What you sId seems like the final result of a long meeting that I’m sure this is the real reason why thohir didn’t and won’t sack Mazzari. Yes who else we can have? Maybe only miha or Spaletti. I like both but surely continuty is the key. I’m a fan from 1989 and a team needs to pass these hard days to become a great team. Look at MU, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal in EPL and compare their last 5 season and the days that each one has pass. If you don’t have a lot of money you can’t become great over 2-3 years you must wait to have hardwork paid of. Thohir has shown great determination and desire to make Inter big again. Since 2010 we haven’t been great in anything like playing, transfersWell done buddy. Be patient this is only Mazzari’s 1st season. He’s not Mourinho but Jose took An already strong team, a team like today’s jube that hasn’t won only in europe also he got any players he wanted like Mancini, Quaresma, milito, motta, lucio, muntari, Eto’o, pandev, Sneidjer. Add them to already great players like zaneti cuchu maicon cesar samuel chivu. simply you then have the CL winner team. give mazzari more time. i was with Stramaccioni last season, now I hope we won’t repeat this mistake. These days reminds me the first 2 seasons of mancini who everybody wanted him out. Now some say Mihailovic thought mancio how to organize his defence!!!!
so damn true. about the youngsters. some of the guys here had been too overrated of the youngsters we had and those we lost. then this talking about firing is really stupid thing. i’m with you on this. we stand with strama till the end and had hoped him to stay and continue his work. and we’ll do the same thing with mazzarri. support him and hope he’ll stay for another season. after all his contract are just for two seasons so if he couldn’t deliver, we’ll have no problem to let him go
+1
Mr. Thohir, I strongly urge you to consider the future Inter with Mazzarri. Inter holds champions. Champions of the past, future champions. Mazzarri is not one of them.
who would you suggest to take over?…We cant keep changing coaches like morratis era. Inter do not have the money for that. I know that he does not play youngsters and i am pissed about that as well, especially that we are in a transitional year, but lets face the fact we havent kept a coach for two years since mourinho thats 4 years ago, and truthfully at least inter has an identity in the field (finally).. which is what is required in a transitional year
do you forget Mancio? he did well. so what if we find another guy, this WM is enough, we are ok with this position even we are 9th I still dream of Strama comeback, but this WM is crazy, we are very lucky to be fifth place with the way he did. do not see how we are at the beginning but how we ended this season. look at liverpool,we might be like that next season if this season Strama our coach 2014-2015 we surely top 3 competitor. speculation? hell no.
I can’t really tell who i would suggest taking over, cause like the players we can attract, same goes for the coaches, i don’t think we can attract a world class coach at the moment. However i know for sure that we cannot continue with Mazzarri.
We need somebody that we can build on, somebody that understands the clubs needs, listens to the president, is willing to sacrifice some results in order to develop younger players.
What we don’t need is a coach that more or less has one formation, doesn’t like young players, can’t see further than his own nose and has not ability to take responsibility for anything. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not blaming Walter for every time we lose points, but overall he has yet to say “I made a mistake, i take the responsibility” cause in his donkey world everything is perfect and it’s just the “players haven’t adapted yet, the ref doesn’t favor us, the light was in his eyes, the played defensive, we were great but..” it’s always excuse on excuse.
I like continuity, i believe its not healthy changing coach all the time, but you got to look the facts in the mirror and consider if it’s really healthy continuing with the coach you have.
I have a hard time understanding how and what Thohir sees in Mazzarri that restores his faith, he doesn’t use young players, theres not really any transition, he’s teaching the a system they don’t perform well in and thats ONE system only, he’s on his way out of europe and it’s clear he favors players from others, which would mean the balance can easily tip and he can lose the dressing room completely.
I feel it is obvious that we can and should not keep building around Mazzarri..
Tell you what tho.. I completely believe in thohir as he has already done so much within inter building it from scratch.. And yes I understand what your saying.. And I agree with you completely.. It’s just frustrating to wait and see what the next coach does horribly lol
Although in my opinion, only one coach that fits inter now with youngsters like Botta taider kovacic..etc and that is de boer because he’s good in team building as well as current results and thohir praised him i think in the beginning of this year(if I’m not mistaken)
Things to take in;
Thohir did not pick Mazzari
Thohir has visions that Mazzarri doesn’t fulfill
Thohir has been praising the likes of de Boer
For Thohir Inter is as much a business as it is his heart and soul and Mazzarri isn’t selling it well
–
However, Mazzarri won’t be cheap to get rid of
Who would Thohir be able to hire
Thohir likes continuity and gives his coaches a long leash
