Nerazzurri President Beppe Marotta says that Inter Milan will “keep the core of the squad together” next season.
The Nerazzurri spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews.
Inter Milan have officially confirmed the appointment of Cristian Chivu as their new coach.
The Nerazzurri had already decided upon the 44-year-old to replace Simone Inzaghi a few days ago.
On Thursday, Inter chose Chivu, concluding a search of a couple days. This search had seen them try for Cesc Fabregas, and also reportedly consider Patrick Vieira.
However, in the end, Inter went with Treble-winning former defender Chivu. They called the Romanian, and he agreed to step up.
Marotta: “Inter Milan Will Keep The Core of The Squad Together”

Inter Milan President Beppe Marota explained the club’s intent for planning under the new coach. “The model is always the same,” he said.
“We want to keep the core of the team together,” he said. But then, there was a caveat.
“We plan to get younger. But we have the goal to continue what we’ve done in recent years.”
“That is to say: participate in competitions where we deserve to be, and try to win them.”
“Then if there is a team that’s better than us we’ll take our hats off to them,” Marotta said.
“But being up there is a privilege for very few clubs,” added the Inter President. “There are clubs that have never reached this point.”
“And there are teams like us that have reached big goals. We want to get back to those levels.”
dont be so gloomy and grey , its not like inter have so many choices , for you fans who mock mr marotta , u dont deserved to be inter fans, he is the one who brought us back from bottom of financial problem, we sign free and old player for a reason, dont ever forget that. as long beppe marotta on board inter is in good hand. even bilan is far worst than us, they are selling their star , and we can avoid that l, remember what its like to lose hakimi. give chance to chivu and hope we can get a better owner , oil money better just as long not american or chinese
levy and ratcliff is clueless , they dont know what are they doing , sell to oil money is our best bet , if we sell to american then we will be like our neighbour
We failed last season because of you Marotta you disappointed we supporters and you didn’t support Inzaghi with good transfers. In January we all saw the team needs reinforcement and you did nothing about it and as a result we lost all the trophies we deserved to win.You let Inzaghi gifting opponent trophies in the final day disgracing ourselves to the world in the champions League final conceding five goals to nil.Marotta you’re not a smart guy that’s why you lost all your four champions League finals.
even more importantly than keeping the “core” together is to buy new high level players, which is something the Oaktree simply won’t do.
If any ot you haters or fans didnt understand everything Marotta said, it clearly means Oaktree wants to build a young squad which will fight for the top 4 in Italy and expects to min. qualify for top 16 in CL. Nobody expects from Chivu to win immediatelly a title, hence why he was chosen to be the new coach. Buckle up boys, we officially started a new era of Inter, with a young coach, young squad, but same inteligent management. Also i would say, clear intention is to sell the club with the first good offer, thats why Oaktree will invest only how much they need to keep us alive in the top 4. Still i dont think it will be a bad era like during the idiot Thorir. This management knows what they are doing, we will sell some deadwood, and we payed already 40 mil on Sucic and Henrique. Its a clear signal they want to rebuild the squad, and not to not invest at all like Suning did with the net 0 signings. Good Luck to us.
how do you get top four finish out of….
“That is to say: participate in competitions where we deserve to be, and try to WIN them.”
The goal is to WIN everything we enter. it’s not focusing on getting fourth or third or second. Aim for first and if there is a team that is better then well done to them. but our goal is to WIN and come FIRST. But if we come second we won’t be sacking the coach like some teams do.
Unless a better coach becomes available at the right time. The Inter throne is a hotseat not many can handle
I can’t find better or more proven coaches than Conte, Inzaghi, or Gasperini with a 3-CB formation. Guardiola sometimes uses that formation, but he will be available when he is in his 70s. So other than that four means gambling, lets hope chivu is our lucky charm.
Easy bro cuz the top 4 means minimum 40 milion from the CL spot, thats why. If its 5th place big chance for a sacking will occur. At the end of the day everything matters only because of money. If he cant bring money, or has bad results hes gone. So even if we finish fourth we maybe dont sack him. Try to win he said, not you must win. Even if we brought some top class manager 2nd place in seria a is likely like conte and inzaghi did first season. If Conte and Inzaghi didnt get sacked for being second, why you think they would sack chivu without experience? Like this chivu can always say if you wanted to be first why did you bring me, and if we finish fourth management can say its a process of rebuilding the squad which takes time ofc and he stays
Oaktree wants to build a young team because a younger squad means increase in value => they can sell high. It’s public information oaktree wants to sell, they don’t have long term plans that care about the team.
it is not bad news that oaktree want to sell. we all know oaktree is just a caretaker owner to ensure the club stay healthy financially; be it a youth squad, or push forward with the stadium plan.
This will help inter in the long run once some rich guy, hopefully one with more sporting senses than Daniel Levy or Jim Ratcliffe, decides to buy Inter from oaktree.
