Inter Milan coach Cristian Chivu is satisfied with his team’s performance in a preseason friendly win over Monaco.
The Nerazzurri coach spoke to InterTV after the friendly win, via FCInterNews. He also added that “results don’t matter” in preseason matches.
Inter Milan beat Ligue 1 side Monaco in a friendly match this evening.
The Nerazzurri had to do it the hard way, though. Firstly, Monaco went ahead within a couple minutes.
Maghnes Akliouche took the lead within two minutes for the host.
Then, Hakan Calhanoglu got a straight red card for a late tackle.
However, Inter came back in the first half. Firstly, Nerazzurri captain Lautaro Martinez equalized. Then, summer signing Age-Yoan Bonny got on the scoresheet to complete the comeback.
Chivu: “Good Match” For Inter Vs Monaco In 2-1 Friendly Win

Inter Milan coach Cristian Chivu said after the fixture that “it’s a preseason match.”
“Legs aren’t quiet working the way they should yet,” the coach admitted. “But it was a good test of our abilities.”
“We need to get some minutes in,” Chivu continued. “Because time is running out.”
Chivu noted that “there are just seventeen days to go before the start of the season.”
“I’ll take the character from the team, and the desire to turn the match around despite the difficulties we had playing with ten men.”
“It’s hard to analyze,” said Chivu. “Because we’re not at our best physically.”
“But we gained some intensity. Obviously, we’re still lacking some technical brilliance and a clinical edge in front of goal.”
“We had some clear chances in front of goal,” Chivu added.
The Inter coach also admitted that “I don’t much care about the result.”
“I don’t want to win a trophy in August,” he declared. “I’m interested in the team gaining confidence and fuel for the challenges to come.”
I saw some good football from Inter but they aren’t there yet in terms of match fitness and it showed with hakan’s tackles and ball possession. The team did well to come back from behind using 10 men BUT like Chivu said, this is just a friendly. The season hasn’t started and we need to get minutes in those legs before we can really assess these players and tactics. Oh and it was nice seeing us play a back four so well in the second half (being that we were down to 10 men)
yeah just Chivu should make some changes, Di Marco is not in his best form he needs start with Augusto.
I agree. I prefer Augusto over Dimarco. I haven’t seen a good cross into the box in a while. For a club like Inter, we need these deliveries at a consistent level.
