Star center-back Manuel Akanji doesn’t care about recent criticism as he enjoys his start to life at Inter Milan.
Speaking to RSI via FCInterNews, Akanji admitted that he has quickly adapted to the new surroundings.
Manuel Akanji left Manchester City to join Inter on a season-long loan in the final hours of the summer transfer window.
Furthermore, the Serie A giants can make his move permanent next summer for a reported fee of €15 million.
However, the 30-year-old failed to impress on his debut in Italy’s top flight.
Indeed, he was part of Inter’s defense that conceded four times in a 4-3 defeat against bitter rivals Juventus last weekend.
Encouragingly, his performance vastly improved last night as the Nerazzurri claimed a 2-0 win at Ajax.
Akanji’s wealth of experience helped Inter get their Champions League campaign off to a flying start.
Moreover, Cristian Chivu recorded a win on his touchline debut at Europe’s top table.
Manuel Akanji Pleased with Inter Milan Start

“It’s never easy to win away from home in the Champions League, especially at a tough ground like this,” Akanji confirmed.
“Yann Sommer’s save right before our goal was crucial. The important thing was not conceding.”
Then, he discussed his transition from the Premier League to Serie A.
“It’s gone really well,” Akanji added. “I’m satisfied. Winning also helped because victories definitely improve the atmosphere.
“Now the most important thing for me is to find a house as soon as possible because living in a hotel isn’t ideal.
“I’m also happy to have a coach like Cristian Chivu, who speaks good English. It makes communication much easier.”
Finally, he offered his verdict on Inter’s loss at Juventus.
“We had to put it all behind us. Criticism? I’ve been playing football for a long time.”
Akanji will likely start in Inter’s upcoming home clash against Sassuolo.
