Inter Milan are reportedly weighing up their options regarding the futures of goalkeepers Yann Sommer and Raffaele Di Gennaro.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInter1908, the Italian giants must decide what to do with two of their three first-team keepers.
Yann Sommer has entered the final year of his deal at San Siro.
Despite proving reliable since arriving from Bayern Munich in 2023, the Swiss veteran has tumbled down the pecking order.
Indeed, Josep Martinez has leapfrogged the 36-year-old in the pecking order.
Inter Milan Face Contract Dilemma Regarding Yann Sommer & Raffaele Di Gennaro

Sommer will be 37 in December. Therefore, Inter are reluctant to offer him a new contract.
Moreover, Di Gennaro looks closer to staying at San Siro than the ex-Borussia Monchengladbach star.
Despite being only Cristian Chivu’s third choice between the sticks, the 31-year-old has better chances of landing a new deal.
Though it may sound a bit paradoxical, there’s a perfectly valid explanation.
Indeed, the Italian stopper earns only €200,000 per season. Furthermore, he has come through the club’s youth academy.
Bring in Carnesecchi
and we have another Stankovic on our hand, it’s not that big
At any other club in the world, this simply isn’t a dilemma! Sommer has been great, but when you sign a player at 34 years old, he simply isn’t a long term investment! Thanks for your service, and good luck in your future! Simple. Di Gennaro is worth keeping, as long as he’s happy to stay… he earns next to nothing, qualifies as a home grown player, and in the few minutes he’s played, has actually looked pretty good! Therefore, this summer we need to find a youngish keeper who can compete with Martinez going forward, be it Caprile, or maybe bring back Stankovic, or whoever… job done!
Agreed, offer Di Gennaro new contracts till he retire. Give Martinez this season a chance to see if he’s got what it takes to be a standard first team regular for us, and bring some Italian as backup as 2nd gk, someone like Leali, Scuffet, Montipo to help with registration for CL with Italian nationality. Or if he doesn’t show consistency and security search for another new number 1, and sell Martinez to recoup what was paid or get more than what was paid for him. Thanks to Sommer for everything, but will be too expensive on wages as backup gk.
