”To me, coming here to celebrate the heroes of the Treble, a period full of great memories, seemed like the right thing to do. Everyone, not just Zanetti, has done a lot more than I first expected”. Those are the words of the honorary President Massimo Moratti after the loss against Chievo.
Was this the right time to “move on” from the past? Can Inter return to the top right away?
”If the club has made this decision, it means that there is need of a change and I imagine that the change will be made in such a manner that the situation requires. They have done everything for this club and from that point of view, I think this might be the right move. It is never easy to rebuild a squad and aim for success right away, but I think that the aim is to start performing immediately. Then you will always have more or less luck and the wins might be hard to get”.
Ausilio has been given a lot of responsibility: is he the only one operating on the transfer market?
”Yes, I really think so and I believe it is the right decision: he has the necessary experience and the club has chosen him specifically”. .
Will the new policy of signing players on free transfers prove to be successful?
”This year we were a bit unfortunate and it could have ended much better. But I believe that all the Italian clubs are in the same situation and they need to pay attention. Some are more affected and some less, but in the end they all have the same conditions. Then it obviously depends on which players are chosen, but to know that we must wait and see”.
Finally, a salute to Seedorf.
”He has been a brilliant player, even when he played for us. I hope he stays at Milan because he deserves it and he has quality, but as an interista I hope for the opposite” (laughs).
