Inter Milan will reportedly re-evaluate the future of French center-forward Ange-Yoan Bonny at the end of the season.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInter1908, the 22-year-old has not fully convinced the Nerazzurri hierarchy in his first season at San Siro.
Cristian Chivu’s side shelled out around €25 million to sign Ange-Yoan Bonny from Parma last summer.
Indeed, the Frenchman moved to San Siro after an impressive maiden campaign in Serie A to bolster Inter’s attacking options.
However, he has performed in patches this term, netting seven goals and adding seven assists in 40 appearances across all competitions.
Inter Milan to Reconsider Ange-Yoan Bonny Future in the Summer
Chivu reportedly intends to build his attack around Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram.
Despite an underwhelming season, the 28-year-old Frenchman could soon sign a new contract at San Siro.
Furthermore, prodigious striker Francesco Pio Esposito has a guaranteed spot in Inter’s long-term project.
With Chivu looking to revamp Inter’s formation next season, Bonny could find himself on the fringes of the squad.
Indeed, several injury setbacks have derailed his impact this season, compromising his future at Giuseppe Meazza.
Therefore, Inter may be open to listening to offers for the Frenchman in the summer.
I think Bonny (7 goals, 7 assists) and Pio (9 goals, 4 assists) are evenly matched statistically. Don’t overestimate them. They’re both young and have plenty of room for improvement.
Agreed, if bonny was italian and pio wasn’t. Bonny would be the one in the spotlight imo. Both great talents and happy to have them on the team regardless
I still think marcus will be sold.
And that defence situation. Maybe carlos should start more often and when we move to a double pivot, should add sandro to the DM possition. I think its time for him to evolve. Same happened to desailly when capello brought him to milano.
So a 4-1-4-1, where the cb moves to dm and the wings push forward. Essentially the WM formation 3-2-2-3. But still disciplined 4-1-4-1 in defence. Not far from the 4-2-3-1 variation, but much more easily addaptive coming from a 3-5-2. And pio can be the holding one while in flat form as he is good with his back against the goal.
The downside of a 1v1 of a 4 man defence can be adjusted with a drop down to 4-5-1 when under pressure. Or in human language – we’ll need rotations to keep the players fresh.
And we’ll need to promote some youngsters to work with the veterans that stay.
Good thing the italians will get a summer vacation for once. Really, really sad that italy missed out, but thats that. Some players will be more fresh next season.
Now time for the brothers to meet.
Forza Inter
I like your thought but I don’t know that Basto has the agility to play DM. I think the left side of a 3 man defense is the only place he’s world class. He’s not a classic bruising CB and one of his biggest strengths is crossing
We need to sell Thuram while we can get a good 65 to 70mil and allow Pio to get more playing time along with Bonny. With the 60 to 75mil we can get a new keeper who is not Vicario and also a new defender. Denzel wants to leave so we sell him and Henrique and get Mingueza for free and a good CAM and Stankovic in our midfield. Mhiki should leave and Cala should be sold while he is not free. Let go all the old players like Acerbi, Darmian and De vrij and find new young wing forwards who will bolster our offense and help Lautaro score more goals also. Chivu is wanting to move to a back 4 so we won’t need to buy many defenders.
good post petery i agree what do you think of ødegaard for cam position.
