The Serie A has released all the important statistics from this first half of the season, and among the individual mentions there is the name of Mauro Icardi. Not only is he one of four players to have scored a hat-trick in these first 19 games, he is also the top under-21 scorer in the league so far with 10 goals, an title he is sharing with an Argentinian colleague: Paulo Dybala of Palermo. Only Juventus striker Carlos Tévez has scored more so far, having found the net 13 times.

Funny how the top 4 scorers in italy are all from argentina
even funnier is that the leading italian scorer happens to be one of the oldest players in the league….Antonio Di Natale
More like sad that the italian top scorer is not even in the national team
at 37 years old what can you expect from the guy ? his best days are behind him
No I mean like it’s sad to see that our Italian forwards playing for the national team ar3 not showing up, and a 37 years old Is doing the job..this shows the poor quality the Italian national team has
well, italy always has an amazing u21 squad but when you can’t find time to play because teams wouth rather purchase pieces of crap like Belfodil, or Pereira, or Schelotto or Silvestre instead of playing a youth player then the problem has more to do with the system than the players!
I can see he’s growing under Mancini. His movement and pass is getting better and better..
Mauro’s progress this season is evident, and logic says he should keep growing as the team find their feet under Mancini, especially considering the growth in quality of service Maurito gets with Shaqiri and Poldi out wide. He could even reach 30 goals until the end of the season if things go really well and if we stay in 3 competitions as long as possible.
I just hope the team get a string of good results together so the atmosphere peaks and we convince Icardi to sign an extension.
i rly liked his performance against samp. he was going back to help in the midfield and his pace was incredible. i hope that we can find an agreement with him to extend his contract.
I’m sure the club are doing everything in their power to keep him tied down. I also think that if the team starts moving up in the standings, he will be more “motivated” to sign.
The clock’s ticking, though.
He never turns around to attack the free spaces behind him and dribble his way in when he gets the ball. And he has the physique and skill to do it. If Mancio teaches him that our attacks would be way less predictable.
Clock is not tickin, his contract expire in 2018…
Well, that depends…
Considering how things are going, it will be a huge challenge for Inter to keep Icardi past this coming summer, as I’m sure offers will be flying in from everywhere.
What they need to do right now is to start improving on their performances, clean up the squad and invest some more (which is already taking place) to prove to Mauro that Inter is the right place for him, that it’s a place where he can grow into the star everyone expects him to be.
If he stays on with this contract, come June someone will give him an offer he cannot refuse and he will inevitably choose to leave.
It doesn’t matter that this current contract is not expiring anytime soon. It’s a contract that doesn’t suit his interests and he may choose to leave if Inter fail to live up to his expectations.
He could leave even if he signs an extensions, not that that’s a guarantee or anything. But that would be the case only if Inter are for some reason forced to sell (financial reasons above all).
The clock is ticking 🙂
