Roberto Mancini spoke to the microphones of Sky following the defeat against Torino.
”I am happy with the performance as we did what we needed to – we held possession well until we reached the edge of their box. Then they stopped our movement. It is very cruel to concede in the last second but unfortunately, this is football. It felt very cruel. However, it is also true that we fell asleep at the same time. We should not have conceded a corner in the first place, and then, we marked really bad on the set piece.”
”Inter did not deserve to even draw this game. Therefore, I say it felt cruel. We need more quality in the final third and we also need to improve our movement to create spaces. But I feel we are on the right track.”
”It would have been important to start the second half of the season with a win and all we can do now is to persevere. We are unlucky with the injuries and today I had to use two of my substitutions due to injuries which reduced my options to change the team up front. I was not happy with the four forwards for what they did in the final third but the rest of the team played well. I did not start with Shaqiri because he played in the Coppa Italia and I did not want to risk him.”
”Brozovic can play in a two man or a three man midfield so we will have more options going forward”.

Brozovic is a good signing, he might even be more popular than Kovacic by seasons end. He does a lot of work off the ball but is also good at getting into goal scoring positions. Maybe it looks like a no name buy compared to Podolski and Shaqiri, but he’s actually needed more than those 2 in this current set up
Mancini, your tactics are so bad. You rely on Palacio, Podolski, Guarin and Kuzmanovic, but it does not work! See, your forwards should include Icardi, Osvaldo, Shaqiri, Bonazzoli and Podolski. You have no playmaker. Are you just blind or dumb? Playing Obi in left back? Nonsense.
5 points in 4 games for the month of january 2015 for mancini that’s 1.25 points per game……jan 2014 under mazzarri inter got 2 points in 4 games that’s 0.5 points per game …….at least inter is going in the right direction but with these numbers you will watch inter win or accomplish anything this season !!!!!!!!! is it safe to say that Inter can’t play soccer in the cold? it’s not the coach’s fault it’s this team it sucks, scrap it and start over !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

kova to me is the biggest disappointment. if his role is not to create then what is it? because he doesnt do anything productive in this kind of games tbh
well, put Kovacic back a little bit, and you’ll see.
I’ve been saying this over and over, he’s not trequartista/AMC.
he need space to maximize his skills. the more you put him forward, less space he will get, and he will find it difficult to create his game.
just because you have good dribbling skills and good passing it doesn’t mean that you must deployed on further forward position.
well u brought the forwards !
well u brought the forwards !
That match against torino showed how bad palacio is right now.
Agreed (sadly)
Call me crazy if you like no problem at all but i swear that the problem not even once was the coach,it was all the time the players and nbody else.and one more thing, in my opinion balo is better than icardi maybe it’s just my frustration but i honestly belive icardi needs to get better right now or leave right now.For God’s sake we should play Puscas more…..
As for Mancio it’s not his fault because andreolli got ijured and he had to replace him and then D’Ambrosio as well wich killed our tactics when he went off.Guarin in my opinion was quite decent he wasn’t bad at all just like kuz.
We need midfielders, and full backs, i’ve been saying this since the summer of 2013!!!
Anyway Forza Inter
I don’t think that Cagliari, Parma, Torino, Udinese, Palermo have better players than us. Coach it’s not a magician, but he have very important role and as he can improve one team, he can ruined it as well. You could have good players, but most important is to find the balance and made them play well as a team. Look what Pardew makes in Cristal Palace with almost the same players and i don’t claim that he’s a great coach. Some of those offensive players are only Mancini’s demands and who’s going to blame?

totally agree with you about Icardi. his teamwork, movement without the ball is close to 0, and now that Mancini banished Osvaldo he has no proper replacement

Totally agree with mancini, too many times Podoski and D’ambrossio crossed the ball and icard or palacio just stand and watch it go over the line. You simply can’t win with that attitude and the point was made clear as Moretti did the opposite of that and he scored from a cross.
System, condition, pace, off ball movements, organization, set pieces, starting lineup, substitutions, all those things i believe that is a coach’s job. When we fails you can’t blame only the players and saying that coach did it great. And it’s too early, but until now after Mazzari i don’t see serious improvement, either the way we playing and the results.

We hold the ball well n for most of the time because Torino ALLOWED us to do just that. As long as that happened outside their final third.
Another bad game from us, so soon after the Empoli match.
With how things are going, we will be lucky to qualify for EL next season.
Another disappointing results. Its unbearable to watch they play. Dour n clueless.
Yes it is exactly unbearable to see.

Torino were defending deep and strong aerially. That made us get nothing from set pieces, and also their goal. They broke often and forced us to defend, and we weren’t able to break often. Palacio was poor. Should have done better with his chances. Icardi miss on 74th, I think. We must keep in mind that injuries hampered the flow, and the subs exhausted. Kovacic and Guarin should have pressed forward more.
Where was Hernanes and Medel? Kuzmanovic was invisible. Obi tried, not a bad game from him. He got in some areas and crosses were decent.
We were direct and predictable. Maybe more creativity and off the ball movement is needed to open spaces.
I am worried about the injuries to Andreolli and D’ambrosio. We are already thin in defense. Also, bookings to Icardi and D’ambrosio wont help, as we don’t have good replacements in case they are suspended.
Medel was suspended due to yellow card accumulation, if I’m not mistaken.
The injuries that occurred during the match obviously limited certain substitutions too.
I actually thought Obi was the worst player on the pitch. First touch was terrible, crosses were wasteful and gave the ball away quite a lot (I guess he was playing a somewhat out of position, though).
There are still quite a few players that are not quite Inter standard IMO that Mancio has needed to use, for various reasons — I see a even bigger overhaul coming this winter (hopefully, anyway!).
Pretty sure 3rd place is lost now, but we will have to all wait and trust in Mancio to see…
Yes, Obi was out of natural position; he was makeshift left back. Palacio and Icardi could have done better to collect those crosses even from Podolski. Crosses were therefore decent.
Obi is not a striker, so first touch is not important. Rather, it should be for Icardi/Palacio.
Yes, he gave the ball away a lot, trying to beat his marker with pace(he wore off later on), or trying to dribble, which he is not good at.
My point is, for those who criticise Obi, that he should be sold, etc should take a look at different positions in the pitch and how we lack good players to replace anyone in starting 11, for injury/suspensions/bookings. Obi is useful to us as utility player who can sacrifice for number of positions.
We need fullbacks, and another winger at the very least. Until then, no selling Obi.
