After a cruel 0-1 defeat against Torino in the 94th min, Roberto Mancini took the time to speak to RAI Sport and had the following to say about the game. “I’m dissapointed that we lost, but sometimes football is like that. We can still keep clean sheets with boring defenders like Campagnaro for smaller teams from both established/weaker leagues, and win on penalties in Europa league. Icardi, Podolski, Vidic, Captain Ranocchia, Palacio can score penalties if not goals right?

Half of them are big teams. Since Inter did not win Torino and Empoli, how can they beat Juve, Milan, Napoli, Lazio, Roma, Fiorentina, Sampdoria and Udinese? Mancini should continuously play Andreolli, Vidic, Ranocchia, D’Ambrosio, Juan Jesus, Icardi, Shaqiri, Hernanes, Kovacic, Brozovic, Osvaldo, Bonazzoli and he should sit Palacio, Guarin, Obi, Kuzmanovic, Podolski on the bench.
I remember Mazzarri saying at the start of season, after the draw against Torino away, that he would like to see how many teams can beat Torino this season. Seems he was right to some extent.

There’s a lot of stronger team in the EL. If we’re having problem against smaller team in the league, how the hell we’re gonna win EL ?
we do well against the big teams because they are more open and dont defend with 9 men behind the ball, This is nothing new. When you come up against teams like torino who are physical and just defend deep this is when football is hardest. Off ball movement is crucial and today it was lousy as hell. I dont no maybe they tried to conserve energy. We cant play that way. We need to run more in order to make up for our players not fully understanding coaches tactics. We arent an efficient team yet with awesome chemistry. It takes time.
I have been saying this. Everyone has their opinions, but they have not shared this two important points regarding Empoli and Torino:
1. Run more forward, especially Guarin and Kovacic.
2. The fact that Torino defended deep and had more counters/breaks, which forced us to defend more for the periods when they were doing it.
Everyone just kept saying about opening spaces only, or ineffectual substitutions and Mancini tactical mistakes. Not that they were wrong though. Just they overlooked these 2 points made.
