Watford has offered Inter ten million euro’s for Zdravko Kuzmanovic and Davide Santon. The two players are said to be very close to the Hornets. Alfredo Pedullá confirmed on twitter that the only thing missing are the players’ signature, while on his site he writes that the nerazzurri have greed the deal. There is also optimism about signing Martin Montoya on a loan with a right to buy according to Pedullá.

And i’m hearing all this crap that Montoya is actually good, wake up people. Santon is at least twice better than him.
Yeah Santon is not the best full back but told me which full back of ours was better than him in the games he played from January. He is not the fastest, he gets sometimes overrun by fast players but he is intelligent and he reads the game well and that has been useful to us specially in defense when Ranochia and Juan lost it all he would be the one to step in and get us out of the shit.
And as about his attacking skills he can even compete with our attackers that good he is in attacking. And with the proper training this preseason when he gets 100 physically fit, u all will consider him a God, i guarantee u that.
So please shut the fuck up with that bullshit Montoya is better than him -_- He almost every game does some amateur mistake.

Keep santon, he’s the best back we have since coming back and he was even called up to the national team when he came back. Santon should stay and D’Ambrosio as back up. Now we’re going to have to look for two backs instead of one. I can see Mancini playing JJ as a back since thats what he was playing towards the end of the season. This is total bs

Juan is trash as a LB. Doesn’t know how to cross, how to dribble and how to pass the ball for 10 meters.
juan is incredibly one footed as well. it’s been situations where a lot were available to pass to but he just can’t pass it with his right foot for some odd reason. i always thought fullbacks need to be good on the ball. juan is definitely not

Please tell me why you think he is not as good, personally i think he is better. Both is not that great in defense, both have showed that from time to time, but i think that Montoyas ability with the ball is better than Santons.
i’ve never heard good things about him, every barca fan i know criticizes him. santon is a howngrown player and a product of the inter academy. and i have only seen good things from him in the past 4-6 months. he’s great in defense. (from what i’ve seen when he came back)
Of course you hear from Barca fans he is not that good when they compare him to a Alves, which properly have been a top 5 fullback over the last 5 years or so.
Montoya have some problems when facing good individual players, just like Santon. I remember times in Europa League where we have had to swap fullbacks because Santon was just out classed and he simply cant deal with players much faster than him.
Santon is decent going forward and have decent crossing but its not like he is godlike or anything. Neither is Montoya, but in my opinion he is better both with and without the ball going forward. More intelligent runs, safer and better passing while having as good dribbling ability.
alot of poeple (even braca fans) have criticized him. he is decent but not better than santon, he couldn’t even displace an out of form dani alves. and now he’s the fourth option at right back in barca……. santon is definitely better defensively. why sell santon for 6m and buy someone who is not much of an upgrade for 12m. it’s not worth it.
I dont think Santon is better defensively overall. Santon defends the same way always, he is not very intelligent in his defending which get really exploited versus fast players.

Not at all. I say i think he is a more well rounded player and better in some aspects of the game compared to Santon without being worse in most other cases.
I have not compared prices, but the price i have heard regarding Montoya was 8 million and if we get 6-6.5 million for Santon (valuing Kuz to 3.5-4 mil), it is only 1.5-2 million more which i think is worth it for the upgrade.

As i said in my previous answer, i think the upgrade is worth the price of 1.5-2 million more than Santon. If it is not a mandatory buy it only makes it better, because we can test him in our team in Serie A without having to pay if it does not work out for same reason.

To be honest i wouldent be surprised if Juan would be the starting left back next season, but only time will tell, maybe Mancini come with something that just work in the pre-season we do not expect 🙂
with all this news i’m having a hard time figuring out where imbula, kovacic and kondogbia would play next season. i’m truly thinking that mancini is gonna play 433 next season…

Seriously, he was just a bench warmer at Barca. Not worth for +10 million euros at all. How can you be so sure that he is better than Santon when he barely plays? Moreover after his horrible moment against Bale, Montoya’s performance is getting worse and really unstable.
I compare from what i have seen over the last three seasons since we were linked to him the first time i have kept an eye on him.
You think that Santon could be anything other than a bench warmer at Barca, no he coulden’t. It is not like Santon is consistent either he have shown that, but he have actually have matches to prove he could be which Montoya have not. Montoya compete with Alves, while Santon compete with Ambrosio and Nagatomo and have been a bench warmer for them in the later stages of the season.

If we need to sell fine. Darmian and Luis are the upgrade. Montoya may be slightly better, but Santon is academy player and shouldn’t just be passed on. Unless he wants to return to England, then “best wishes”
santon’s wife is from england so there is a big chance that this played a role in his potential transfer.
