Ex Inter midfielder Esteban Cambiasso now at Olympiakos has been answering questions on UEFA’s official Champions League website about his career.
Who is the best player you played with at Inter?
“It’s difficult to just pick one. For his consistency, our friendship and many personal components, I would pick Javier Zanetti.”
Who is the best coach you have worked with in your career?
“Every coach means something to all players. I would say Jose Pekermann for what he did for my development as a young player.”
Who is your footballing idol?
“It is Fernando Redondo.”
What team do you support?
“Argentinos Juniors.”
What is your favourite goal you have scored in your career?
“The best goal was the one I scored against Serbia during the 2006 World Cup but the most important goal was the one for Inter against Chelsea in 2010.”
Which player did you want to play with but didn’t get the chance to?
“I would have liked to play alongside Ricky Kaka.”
Has anything in your career topped winning the Champions League or even came close?
“In my career, no, nothing has came close to that. In my life, my children.”
Do you think your old team Leicester will qualify for the Champions League?
“Football is made of dreams. I imagine that Leicester have different aspirations than that this season but dreams are there to be realised.”
Have you settled at Olympiakos?
“Yes, I like it. I feel very welcomed here and I have met lots of nice people. I’m feeling good.”
Finally, what does football mean to you?
“Football is something very important in my life. I experience it passionately. If I were to use one word to describe football, it would be ‘passion’.”

Man why aren’t we linked with him instead of pirlo 😀
We always be linked with him. It was us who decided that the relationship should end there. He still has lot to give, though.
“Passion”. A word that has been missing at Inter lately.
And if you would relate that silly comment, to anything with substance, regarding Inter – it would be? -.-
It may be silly, but I’m genuinely honest here. Back then, when I saw Inter plays, I saw lots of passion, willing to sacrifice, all of them. Now, some players just gladly take the big paycheck even though he played like, well, shit.
And again I will have to guess my way through your post, and try to let your words make sense. Back then, 80´s, 90´s or 2010? Some players, who? Well, I see lots of passion both from the players and our directors. We have bought in several new players, who is hungry and working hard to achieve our goal, which is top 3. If I had to name a player who fits the bill regarding your paycheck theory, I would say that we sold him to Real Madrid. Tohir has spent much more than any of us would have guessed, and brought in a high caliber coach. At this very moment we are at the top at the table, even while we are still playing some “bad” football at the moment, how is that even possible with no passion?
Back then, when I was first see Inter played, and decided this is the team that I support. As for the word “passion”, it was there, but not the same one that I used to see when players battle for every ball, 50-50 or less. Idk, perhaps it just me, a fans who suffer when a player just walk after losing the ball, which is so many time happened that cost us dearly (Yes, Kondo, it’s you). As for paycheck, I admit, I put it in a wrong sentence. What I meant, some players get decent salary, yet they performance way below it. Inconsistent. You can name it. Last, yes we play bad football, yes we won, yes we top of the table. But, for how long? I can accept if we play defensive football, or even play like provincial team. But won the match while playing “badly” can get you nowhere. I mean, somehow, luck will be at the other side of the field.
