Felipe Melo: “So many lies told about me”

Inter’s Felipe Melo was interviewed by Calcio2000 and spoke about many different subjects.

MALLORCA – “I didn’t chose Spain, but the club chose me. At that moment I didn’t have many options. I negotiated with Porto and Benfica, but we didn’t reach an agreement. On the last day of the transfer market, then, came the possibility of joining Cuper and I seized the opportunity.”

RACING SANTANDER AND ALMERIA – “I played little at Mallorca, but entered the pitch in the last matches of the season, the decisive ones. At Racing I was used as left or right winger, and it wasn’t easy for me. At Almeria, however, I exploded. I thank the coach of that team, Emery. a truly incredible coach who helped me so much in my professional growth. that was an unforgettable season, beautiful.”

FIORENTINA – “A wonderful season. The Viola represented the first real great club for me. I cherish the wonderful memories of the city, the team and the club. After the first few months, I was much loved. I went out of the house and I had to sign 70 to 100 autographs, I was already loved. We played in the Champions League right away. Fiorentina has a special place in my heart even though they left many people dissatisfied by selling me to Juventus.”

JUVENTUS – “The fact that I cost a lot didn’t weigh me down. There are players who, despite playing badly, are always respected by the public. Others, however, they don’t like even if they play well. It’s enough that someone starts to say that you are bad and people are starting to really think so. When I arrived in Turin they said that I and Sissoko, at that time the starting central midfielders, were the strongest duo in Italy. At the end of the year, not having won anything as a team, we became scarce. Still, I always played as a starter. But my memory of Turin remains positive, I learned a lot.”

GALATASARAY – “Honestly, it wasn’t easy to accept. There was Manchester City that wanted me and I had a pre-agreement with Paris Saint Germain, where Leonardo was. But, I’m honest, Gala arrived with an important financial offer. I thought about it, Taffarel was there, I asked several people and eventually chose to go to Turkey. I found spectacular fans. By winning immediately I became important to the team. We’re talking of beautiful years that were very rewarding, both on and off the pitch.”

INTER – “I always wanted to come to Milan and I’m happy that my wish was realized. I must also thank Mancini who wanted me at all costs.”

UNSPORTSMANLIKE – “There have been so many lies told about me, such as the words attributed to me about Higuain ( ‘I will eat you’, ed.) I never uttered that. Or when they said that I fought with Balotelli. it is not true, because I am a friend of his. I’m not bad, I am determined to do everything for my team that’s a different thing.”
