CEO of Pirelli Marco Tronchetti Provera shared his thoughts on the new deal and revealed the figures involved: “I’ve spent 20 exciting years alongside Moratti and I believe Inter have been accurately portrayed in what’s been said. The main relationship with the fans and the team, the respect of fans and sport are values which unite us.” Provera continued: “We’re a global company and we want our supporters around the world to be Inter fans. Erick Thohir’s commitment is crucial, Moratti is still as passionate as ever and the players have to feel these values when they put on the Nerazzurri colours. We have to continue down this road. The world is a bigger place than ever before, which is a frightening prospect for many, but it also offers countless opportunities. Sport brings people together and is fundamental for young people. Inter Campus are the example here, in providing opportunities to thousands of children around the world. We have to move forward with all of this and our partnership also unites in our shared values. We want to have success around the world and we’ll be behind Inter more than ever before.” What would it take for Inter to win the treble again? “The magic of that Inter side came from the atmosphere in the dressing room. The strength of a side owes a lot to its spirit and the spirit of a team comes from the dressing room. We have a good team and the president wants to keep moving forward, as do we the sponsors. Moratti is still following Inter with the same passion. Spirit is important and the take-home message from this event is for the dressing room. With the right spirit, the sky’s the limit.” Can you reveal the numbers involved in the deal? “A significant portion is performance-related. The basic figure is around €12 million, which could be doubled if the club were to win every trophy available. This shows our desire to incentivise the team’s performance.” Do you envisage celebrating more silverware? “The five-year contract is a clear sign that we wish to proceed with the same commitment and priorities that have brought us success over the past 20 years. That success will inspire the squad.” Moments later provera spoke with Inter Channel: “My favorite jersey is the classic Inter jersey, I will always have it in my heart. We want to continue with the spirit with those who accept a challenge to make the fans happy. We want to demonstrate that we are an example in football. Inter need to have a great dressing room in this regard and it has that. We share the same values as well as the will to win together and this is important. Inter has a glorious history and the players should feel honored to be able to wear this shirt.” Source: FCInterNews.it
Provera: “Basic figure is €12m but could be doubled depending on success”

Although im happy Pireli is is still our shirt sponsor, money we get from this deal is just too low..i think that a bonus is very hard to achive, and when i look at other shirt sponsors (and we are talking about a main one) and money they give i think base deal should have been higher..a lot higher..
I’m just hoping,as provera is interista and minor shareholder,he would maybe give more money from his own pocket haha
I think we got the better amount considering the bonus will double the money. AC Milan get €12m from Emirates and Juventus got €11.7m from Jeep per year. CMIIW. source: http://www.goal.com/en/news/10/italian-football/2012/04/06/3018100/juventus-sign-35-million-sponsorship-deal-with-jeep
Are you aware of that the article you read and are referring to is from year 2012?
http://gazzettaworld.gazzetta.it/features/serie-a-shirt-sponsorship/
Sassuolo – 22 million euro
Juventus – 17 million euro
Milan – 17 million euro
Inter – 12 million euro (previous deal, fixed sum)
Napoli – 9,7 million euro
Reaching levels of what Juventus and Milan are earning as a fixed sum every year from their sponsors, we have to probably win the Coppa, Serie A and reach CL. To earn around 20 million euro we will probably have to reach the final stages of the Champions League. To reach 22-24 million euros we will have to probably win the CL. So to summarize, it is a real shitty deal with Pirelli this! We are talking about a sponsor who is a part owner of the club, which in Juventus and Sassuolo with the same situation is resulting in that the clubs are getting good sponsorship deals.

If we take a look of what we and other clubs earn in deals with our kit manufacturers, we fall behind Juve and Milan once again…
Milan – 27 million euros (Adidas)
Juventus – 23 million euros (Adidas, they “handle their own merchandising” whatever that means)
Inter – 18 million euros (Nike, a new deal…)
Napoli – 8 million euros (Kappa)
Roma – 5 million euros (Nike)
lol. bbilan without UCL for 3 years (cmiiw) but still get better deal. lol. nice deal, Pirelli. -__-
“For prominent domestic companies in particular, companies simply do not find it desirable or feasible to invest [in a football club] given the economic decline in Italy. People aren’t spending as much on anything now” I read the reason from your article. Not a smart move for sponsorhip to invest in shirt right now.
For domestic companies surely it’s not the best time to perhaps invest in sponsorship, I can agree on that. But for a team such as Inter, who have lot of fans over the whole world, it’s a smart investment to sponsor Inter. According to Tohir we have many fans in China. “In China where a large portion of the 190 million Inter fans in the Asia-Pacific region and the 264 million Nerazzurri supporters worldwide live”

So I would have loved to seen Inter worked harder getting a sponsor who have business not only in Italy, we are a world wide known club with fans all over the world. We are not a club where the main sponsor on the shirt should be an Italian company having their main or only business in Italy. That is why this deal with Pirelli angers me, as they fulfills those requirements and still they give us shitty deals. Not only is China a big market for them, but they are now owned by a Chinese state-owned company and therefore is Inter owned partially by the state of China.

Great article you shared. TBH, I also want Inter to have a better main sponsor. Now, for Pirelli deal I think it’s a fair deal consider Inter prestigue in last 5 years not convincing. That’s why I think we can’t find a good sponsorship unless from this year Inter continue to compete in UCL so Inter have a value market or maybe if we win scudetto i think Inter will try remake a new deal with Pirelli.
Also Juve and Sassuolo get sponsored by their owners.
Sasuolo owner also owns mapei
Juve is owned by the angelli family which also owns Fiat which owns jeep. So you can kinda say the money is coming from within.
Someone correct me if im wrong
