Marco Bellinazzo, a football and finance journalist discussed and dissected SCG’s 68.5% takeover on his blog Il Sole 24 Ore: “From a financial point of view, taking into consideration the quotes values and some of debts Suning had to take on its shoulders, have spent more than 600 million Euro. In very simple terms Suning paid Thohir 270 million Euro (a part of which must be passed on to Moratti). The value of Inter’s 100%, including the net of debts, is of 380 million. To this figure one must add the debts, which are the 220 million Euro loan from Goldman Sachs and the 110 million Thohir loaned to Inter during his time as president. It is serious deal, which Suning have immersed themselves into, who manage a 15 billion Dollars turnaround per year, which is higher than the 700 million Euro they’re expected to have spent when they buy the remaining 31% of Thohir. So practically, the club’s value has doubled three years apart. Thohir spent 250 million for the club’s 70% (75 million plus the 180 million in debts) with a total value of 350 million considering a 100%. The Indonesian was very wise to buy and sell Inter rather than managing it.”
