Juventus Sporting Director Cristianio Giuntoli is not ruling out a move for Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku now that Inter Milan have dropped out of race.

Speaking in a press conference, as reported by FCInterNews, Giuntoli was very much coy regarding the Bianconeri’s rumoured interest in signing the 30-year-old.

Lukaku is certainly a player with a lot of uncertainty about his future following the emphatic end of Inter’s pursuit.

But one of the clubs that now look to be a strong contender for the Belgian’s signature is the Nerazzurri’s bitter rivals Juventus.

It was, after all, the advanced negotiations between Lukaku and the Bianconeri that angered Inter to the point that they pulled the plug on their own attempts to sign the Chelsea striker.

However, at the same time, a move to Turin is hardly a foregone conclusion for Lukaku. Juventus would still have a long way to go if they are to actually make their move for the Belgian.

Giuntoli Coy About Juventus Pursuit Of One-Time Inter Target Romelu Lukaku

Giuntoli only arrived at Juventus a couple weeks ago, and is now thrown into the middle of a highly dramatic transfer saga.

The executive outlined his transfer strategy, stating that “We’re not going to make ‘Giuntoli-style’ moves, we’re going to make moves worthy of Juventus.”

“We need to have a transfer window that’s both sustainable and competitive, find the right mix of young players and veterans,” he added.

Asked about the possibility of Lukaku making the move to Juventus, Giuntoli replied that “I have to reiterate that I already think we’re competitive in the attacking positions.”

“I don’t want to say more than that, because the transfer window is still just beginning.”

“Now we have to bring the squad into a more reasonable shape,” Giuntoli said of the Bianconeri’s plans. “We still have a lot of players and we’re working on offloading some.”
