Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi is reportedly dreaming of an attacking quartet that doesn’t include Joaquin Correa.

The 28-year-old Argentine was a pupil of the Italian coach during their time together at Lazio.

The second striker accompanied the 47-year-old to Inter in the summer of 2021. However, he failed to recapture the magic of his spell in the Italian capital.

So after two underwhelming campaigns, even Inzaghi himself is ready to give up on Correa.

According to Corriere della Sera via FcInterNews, the Nerazzurri coach has a vision for an attacking quartet that doesn’t include the former Lazio striker.

The only certainties that the boss has at his disposal at the moment are club captain Lautaro Martinez and new signing Marcus Thuram.

As the source reveals, Inzaghi is hoping to offload Correa and add another two forwards to the fold.

The report believes that Alvaro Morata remains the coach’s favorite choice. However, Atletico Madrid insist on collecting the full value of the release clause (21 million euros).

Therefore, Porto striker Mehdi Taremi could be a more viable alternative, while Udinese star Beto remains the third choice.

Moreover, Atalanta veteran Duvan Zapata is also a possibility as we reported yesterday.

As for Correa’s direct replacement, Inzaghi would be willing to welcome back Alexis Sanchez, as the report claims.

The Chilean spent the last campaign at Marseille but now finds himself unattached. He had played at Inter between 2019 and 2022.

Another solution would be keeping Correa and adding two more attackers, which would raise the tally to five forwards.

Nevertheless, club president Steven Zhang wouldn’t fancy this prospect for financial reasons.
